Joe Biden is a longtime US Senator from Delaware, and is currently the Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate. Nancy Pelosi is the current Speaker of the Democratic-controlled United States House of Representatives. Both politicians are Catholics, but both have made statements about abortion that have precipitated criticism from the leadership of the Catholic Church. Pelosi and Biden have been blamed for misrepresenting the position of the Catholic Church on abortion.

Despite all of the hullaballoo, the rank and file Catholics have said that abortion is not a critical issue in the upcoming election. 80% of Catholics said they would vote for a candidate who supported abortion. Here are some quotes on the issue:
