TT Guardian, 12 Dec 2009: De Lima: Set up probe into Udecott now!

Congress of the People representative Vernon De Lima is giving acting Police Commissioner James Philbert and acting Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard 96 hours to investigate dealings at Urban Development Corporation of T&T (Udecott).

De Lima gave the time line at a news conference at COP’s Flagship House, Broome Street, Woodbrook, yesterday. He said: “On behalf of the people of T&T, we are calling upon the Government to investigate. They have 96 hours. The Police Commissioner and the Director of Public Prosecutions should make an investigation. “These things took place and it is time for police action. We are calling for it to be made public. The information should be forwarded to the Parliament,” De Lima added. A release from the party also identified some of the chief issues—namely the award by Udecott of the contract to CH Development and Construction Ltd to build the Ministry of Legal Affairs tower for $368,902,830.
